Meet Denise Alberto PT

Denise is a Bay Area and California native. She earned a B.S. in Psychology from St. Mary's College of Moraga, California and then received her Masters of Physical Therapy from the University of St. Augustine, Florida in 1996.

Treating general orthopedic dysfunctions led her to develop an interest in the spine and especially the pelvic/SI region. Through continuing education in these specialty areas, she has developed her own unique and effective approach to treating chronic pain syndromes and pelvic region dysfunctions. She is one of the 1st Pelvic PT's in the Bay Area who has a distinct passion for helping couples with unconsummated marriage and sexual pain issues. She is proactive with her pre and post partum clients, encouraging partners participation for home exercises. She helps to facilitate post-traumatic stress recovery through the mind-body connection utilizing her abundance of local resources to include chiropractors, acupuncturists, craniosacral/energy therapists, psychologists as well as massage. Techniques in visceral manipulation are commonly used.

Among other organizations, she is an active member of the Women's Health and Orthopedic Sections of the Academy of Pelvic Health Physical Therapy since 1994.  Denise is excited to be working with Alex Blefari, DPT who is trained by her, to support the evolving and growing practice in 2022!

Denise resides in Los Gatos with her family. With her supportive family and her passion for helping others, Denise continually increases her knowledge about chronic pain. There are many misconceptions about body/pelvic pain that drive her to develop more effective forms of treatment to support her patients’ emotional and physical needs. During treatment Denise asks patients to describe their “body story” which often identifies Somato Emotional Connections between pain and life experiences. She works closely with Jane Colacicco; CranioSacral Therapist to facilitate this process www.janecola.com.  Beth Panero, CMT  is a massage therapist that sees her patients concurrently to support the healing process as well.

Meet Alex Blefari, DPT

Alex grew up in the Bay Area and earned her BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in 2013. Shortly after, her passion for mindfulness and movement as well as healing modalities led her to obtain her yoga and meditation certification in Bali in 2015.

While teaching yoga, Alex came across many people who were experiencing pain, especially chronic pain. As she successfully worked with clients in a one-on-one setting, Alex’s curiosity for more knowledge led her to pursue and earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Southern California in 2021.

Alex has the ability to understand and weave together the wisdom she gained from her extensive studies of both eastern and western medicine to create an environment where her clients feel safe and can be treated as a whole. She prides herself in listening to her clients and tailoring each treatment to their learning style, needs and goals. Alex’s clinical experience working in the chronic pain clinic at the San Francisco Veterans Hospital and extensive studies of pain neuroscience greatly shapes her treatment style. She understands and helps her clients discover what is contributing to their pain besides their physical impairments. Alex is always collaborating with her colleagues and referring her clients to community resources when appropriate to ensure her patients get the best possible outcome and treatment.

Alex loves treating the women’s health population and in addition to her doctorate training; has furthered her education through Herman & Wallace and with mentoring by Denise Alberto. Alex is also a certified Pre/Post Natal Yoga Instructor trained by Jane Austin, world-renown midwife, doula and childbirth educator.
